Shammik has over 18 years of experience with international banks. His last assignment was with Progeon Ltd. as head of the banking and capital markets group. Progeon was the business process outsourcing subsidiary for Infosys Technologies Ltd. Over the 3 years of his involvement in Progeon, the group acquired a number of marquee clients, including UBS, DB, Northern Trust, SunTrust and Washington Mutual in areas ranging from credit analysis, economics research, securities processing to retail banking. During this period, Shammik oversaw the growth of Banking and Capital Markets ("BCM") vertical from 100 employees and US$100,000 revenues to over 1000 employees and US$8,000,000 in revenues. Furthermore, he also started the knowledge services vertical and grew that to 150 MBAs and Charted Accountants with over US$2,500,000 in revenues in 14 months. He was also instrumental in helping clients design their process framework for transitioning processes and in helping operations in achieving high double digit productivity improvement through process changes.

Prior to that, Shammik headed the investment bank for Societe Generale in India, where he started the equity business for the bank in India including equity capital markets, private placements and mergers and acquisitions. He originated and led the team on assignments that included bidding for a large public sector IT services company and private placements in a difficult investment banking market.

Shammik started his career with Citibank after his MBA in IIM(A), where over 12 years he managed equity investments, corporate finance, capital markets and risk management. His range of experience includes product management, risk, treasury and capital markets. At Citibank, he structured a number of transactions that were first in the Indian market, including commodity price linked loans to hedge client business risk, the first U.S. GAAP compliant securitization transaction for telecommunication receivables, the largest securitization transaction for future receivables till then and a number of equity linked transactions. These involved considerable analysis and work from a legal, risk management and financial structuring perspective.

When Shammik is not working, he can be found scuba diving in the coastal waters of the world. Shammik is also training to run a marathon.
